Lely had lost 15 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 2-12 to make it 16. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Immokalee Indians. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 11-6 to the Indians when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Romel Rodriguez put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in February of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Carson Kimbler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Those runs were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Santiago Carnet, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
As for Immokalee, with the win, they broke their 11-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-11. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like Lely, Immokalee also got a great game from a two-way player: Aaron Yzaguirre. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Yzaguirre a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony Turrubiartez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kristian Trevino, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Lely will head out to take on Naples at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Immokalee, they will venture away from home to face off against Palmetto Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
