Lake Region (9 Man) recap September 24, 2013
Leola/Frederick added to the longest winning streak in Lake Region (9 Man) this week by beating Gettysburg/Hoven, 12-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Ipswich/Edmunds Central led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Northwestern Area. Alex Marsh threw for 20 yards, ran for 157 yards and caught 2 passes for 14 yards in the win.
Faulkton's dynamic duo of Kurt Beidler and Cole Baloun proved tough for Langford to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Beidler threw for 166 yards and 2 touchdowns and Baloun had 111 yards receiving. Riley Potter helped Faulkton's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 55 yards.
The Trojans' dynamic duo of Beidler and Baloun proved to be unstoppable against the Lions, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Baloun was the best wideout in the league this week as Faulkton defeated Langford.
Lane Meyer was a key player and the best on defense this week as Shayne Geditz's team defeated Paul Raasch's team. The 5-foot-11 junior racked up 1.5 sacks.
Beidler put up the best numbers through the air as the Trojans bested the Lions.
Marsh was the most successful running back in Lake Region (9 Man) this week. Teammate Lane Peterson added to the ground attack by rushing for 50 yards.
Marsh provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Tigers beat the Wildcats. Marsh's favorite target this week was Peterson, who caught 4 passes for 58 yards.
Ipswich/Edmunds Central's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Dustin Northrup has thrown for 484 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while Phil Beck has 11 catches for 210 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Northwestern Area takes on Faulkton. At the moment, Eric Borge's team is in fourth, while the Trojans are in second.
Leola/Frederick led the league in points allowed with 7.
