Softball Recap: East Wins Going Away Against Kennett

East won the last time they faced Kennett and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Vikings put the hurt on the Blue Demons with a sharp 12-4 win. Considering the Vikings have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ferri Ava spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cross Ava was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cross Daria, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5.

East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

East has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Kennett, they dropped their record down to 4-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Coincidentally, East and Kennett will both be playing Downingtown East the next time they take the field. The Blue Demons will head out to face the Cougars at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Vikings will host them at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
