Basketball Recap: St. Michael Falls Despite Big Games from Logan Terry and Ryan Legah

St. Michael was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 81-55 to the El Capitan Eagles. The Cardinals lost against the Eagles in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 106-56 score last time.

St. Michael's loss came despite strong showings from Ryan Legah and Logan Terry. Legah went 9 for 20 on his way to 26 points along with six steals and five boards, while Terry went 6 of 14 en route to 16 points in addition to three steals and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Terry a new career-high in blocks. Kyler Sheppard also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

El Capitan was led to victory by Shez Barlow and Jairus Hammon. Barlow dropped a double-double on 34 points and 13 rebounds, while Hammon posted 18 points along with seven assists and six boards. Hammon continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last five games he's played. Bryant Hammon was another key player, going 5 for 12 en route to 11 points.

St. Michael's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for El Capitan, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-9.

St. Michael didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-33 victory against Fredonia on the 11th. El Capitan has also already played their next contest, a 72-69 defeat against Dishchii'bikoh on the 14th.
