Basketball Recap: Trinity Beats York Catholic for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Trinity's and York Catholic's contest on Saturday was close at halftime, but Trinity turned on the heat in the second half with 40 points. The Trinity Shamrocks blew past the York Catholic Fighting Irish 70-45. The win was familiar territory for the Shamrocks who have now won six matches in a row.

Trinity was led to victory by Owen Schlager and Marcus Yeager. Schlager almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds, while Yeager posted nine points in addition to six assists and six boards. What's more, Schlager also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Andre Steele, who had seven points.

Trinity smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games dating back to last season.

Trinity pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for York Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Boiling Springs at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. York Catholic also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Cedar Cliff at 12:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
