Softball Recap: Providence Makes It 16 in a Row at Home

Providence barely beat East Mecklenburg the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Eagles on Friday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Averie Jones looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Pheonix Scott was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Emerson McAllister, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Providence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Mecklenburg only posted an OBP of .182.

Providence pushed their record up to 19-4 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for East Mecklenburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Providence nor East Mecklenburg have any future games scheduled.
