Baseball Recap: Casteel Has No Trouble Against Mountain View

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Casteel had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Mountain View Toros with a sharp 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Colts, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Baylor Denny spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Connor Russell, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryne Barker, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Casteel hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.

Casteel has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Mountain View, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 19-12 record.

As of now, neither Casteel nor the Toros have any future games scheduled.
