Basketball Recap: Cayden Clark's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fort Meade over Lake Region

Fort Meade lost against Lake Region back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Fort Meade Miners came up short against the Lake Region Thunder, falling 66-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Miners have suffered since February 6, 2024.

Fort Meade's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cayden Clark, who posted eight points and seven boards. Clark has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Omari Russell was another key player, putting up five points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Emondre Wilson was nothing short of spectacular for Lake Region: he went 10 for 14 on his way to 23 points and six boards. Those 23 points gave Wilson a new career-high. Joshua Allen Jr. also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Fort Meade's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8. As for Lake Region, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-16.

Fort Meade wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-39 win against Hardee on the 24th. Lake Region has also already played their next game, a 47-37 victory against Mulberry on the 25th.
