The Villa Park Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Chaminade Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Villa Park is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Villa Park walked away with it. They walked away with a 28-21 victory over Millikan on Friday. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but Villa Park was the (much) better team in the second half.
Villa Park relied on the efforts of Dominic Ancich, who rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns, and Carter Christie, who rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, after only six points in their last matchup, Chaminade made sure to put some points up on the board against Inglewood on Friday. Chaminade snuck past Inglewood with a 39-35 victory.
Seth Shigg was a one-man wrecking crew for Chaminade as he rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Shigg really tore up the turf during one magnificent 73-yard run. Niles Davis was another key contributor, gaining 121 total yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Villa Park to 10-1 and Chaminade to 6-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Villa Park has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 182.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Chaminade struggles in that department as they've been even better at 185.5 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
