Cloudland is 0-10 against Johnson County since March of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Highlanders will be playing at home against the Longhorns at 5:00 p.m. Cloudland has given up an average of 15.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Cloudland is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against University School, falling 11-3.
Cloudland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Davis, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Johnson County waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Rangers with a sharp 12-5 victory.
Kaden Blevins made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Johnson County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 4-10 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carson Jennings, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March. Chris Wilson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Johnson County's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Cloudland, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cloudland has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Johnson County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
