Valley Regional is 1-9 against Haddam-Killingworth since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Warriors will host the Cougars at 3:45 p.m. Valley Regional is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Somers hit Valley Regional with a four-run third inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 9-8.
Juliana Spencer was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one triple, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Nataly Pavon-Avila, who earned three runs and four stolen bases.

Emma Giaccone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Haddam-Killingworth saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caley Napoletano, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Valley Regional's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Haddam-Killingworth, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Valley Regional has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Haddam-Killingworth struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
