The Snowflake Lobos will head out on the road to square off against the Payson Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Snowflake not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 3rd (when they won 36-2). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Holbrook a 10-0 shutout. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Lobos' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Kelsey Scarbrough was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Lyla Craner also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Payson came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 25-9 win. Considering the Longhorns have won four games by more than 12 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kinikki Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Payson got a massive performance out of Shylah Waterman, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Vera Sopeland was another key player, going 4-for-6 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Payson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Payson's record is now 6-4. As for Snowflake, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Snowflake hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Payson struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Snowflake skirted past Payson 2-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lobos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
