The Saluda Tigers will take on the Pelion Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Saluda is coming into the match hot, having won their last 13 games.
On Friday, Saluda beat American Leadership Academy 6-3.
Kylee McGlohorn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kamryn Campbell, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base. Nyla Jordan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Pelion's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Ninety Six by a score of 9-7.
Savanna Padgett was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Alexia Hansen, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Saluda pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Pelion, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Saluda has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pelion struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Saluda's way against Pelion in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Saluda made off with an 11-0 win. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
