On Friday East Prairie will take on Fredericktown at 7:00 PM. Fredericktown will be strutting in after a victory while East Prairie will be stumbling in from a defeat.
We expected East Prairie to have trouble with the significantly higher-ranked Charleston last Friday, and they did. East Prairie ended up on the wrong side of a painful 20-49 walloping at Charleston's hands. East Prairie's loss came about despite a quality game from senior Derez Tipler, who picked up 185 yards on the ground and caught passes for 142 yards. That makes it four straight good games in a row from Tipler.
Meanwhile, Fredericktown have had to suffer through a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took the contest and then some with a 48-8 win over Doniphan. The rankings were on Fredericktown's side, but they didn't forecast quite such a lopsided result.
East Prairie's defeat took them down to 2-6 while Fredericktown's victory pulled them up to 2-6. With four turnovers, East Prairie had trouble holding onto the ball. We'll see if Fredericktown exploit that vulnerability.
