Softball Recap: Chico Has No Trouble Against Era

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lindsay, Chico was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Era Hornets. Considering the Dragons have won eight games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Addyson Sides spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Camryn Sides, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Camdyn Marcus, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Chico has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. Era has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chico will take on Muenster at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Muenster will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Chico surely won't give up without a fight. As for Era, they will square off against Lindsay at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
