After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three matchups, the Overland Trailblazers finally came back down to earth on Monday. They had to suffer through a rough 110-5 loss at the hands of Denver East. While losing is never fun, Overland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Denver East is ranked fifth).
Despite the defeat, Overland had strong showings from Isreal Littleton, who scored 26 points, and Siraaj Ali, who scored 18 points. Littleton continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aidan Perez, who scored seven points.
Overland bumped their record down to 1-3 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Denver East, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Overland will square off against ThunderRidge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully ThunderRidge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Saturday. Denver East won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Palmer at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. One thing working in Palmer's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
