Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Freedom). They blew past the King Lions 72-32 on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Freedom's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Serigme Thiam led the charge by going 5 of 9 en route to 15 points. Thiam is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Trey Hill, who went 6 of 10 en route to 14 points and five assists.
Freedom was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as King only racked up seven assists.
Despite the loss, King saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rodney Smith went 8 of 17 on his way to 19 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Lopez, who posted five points and seven rebounds.
Freedom's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for King, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
When Freedom and King next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Freedom will try to stop Chamberlain's eight-game winning streak when the meet at 8:00 p.m. on January 7th. Freedom is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.
