The Abington Heights Comets will venture away from home to take on the West Scranton Invaders at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Abington Heights will be strutting in after a win while West Scranton will be coming in after a loss.
Abington Heights took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over North Pocono. The Comets haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
One reason for the win was Abington Heights' just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-18, 25-14.

Abington Heights' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Chris Cummins, who had nine digs and two aces, and Chase Beerman, who had four digs and two aces. Cummins has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times he's played.
They weren't the only good servers: Abington Heights was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces every time they've taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, West Scranton didn't have quite enough to beat Western Wayne last Wednesday and fell 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Invaders in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.
West Scranton wouldn't go down easily and took Western Wayne into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-11, 23-25, 25-9, 15-10.
Abington Heights' win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for West Scranton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Everything went Abington Heights' way against West Scranton in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Abington Heights made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
