Raelyn Owens made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in August of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, Cloe Sercer was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Calla Joyner, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Tiftarea Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Telfair County didn't have quite enough to beat Bleckley County on Tuesday and fell 2-1. The Trojans have struggled against the Royals recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Telfair County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nala Parsons, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Tiftarea Academy pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Telfair County, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
Everything went Tiftarea Academy's way against Telfair County in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as Tiftarea Academy made off with a 14-6 win. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
