The Burwell Longhorns won the last time they faced the Riverside Chargers, and things went their way on Monday too. Burwell came out on top against Riverside by a score of 53-43. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Burwell.
Burwell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Karsyn Bower led the charge by scoring 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bower has scored all season. Kaitlyn Hughes was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight assists and seven steals.
Burwell has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Riverside, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burwell will face off against Heartland Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Riverside, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Elba at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Riverside is facing Elba at the right time seeing as Elba is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
