After a string of four wins, the Pueblo County Hornets's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 43-42 to The Classical Academy. Pueblo County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as The Classical Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Pueblo County still got an impressive performance from Dominic Mauro, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Mauro's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lowry Kirkland, who scored 14 points.
Pueblo County's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for The Classical Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pueblo County will take on Palmer Ridge at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for The Classical Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Elizabeth at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Elizabeth has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8.
