Basketball Recap: Veritas Christian Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Eli Robbins and Lee Burgess

Veritas Christian Academy was the 57-55 winner over Lake Lure Classical Academy when they last played one another back in November, but their luck changed this time around. The Veritas Christian Academy Warriors fell to the Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors 52-47. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lee Burgess and Eli Robbins certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Burgess posted 14 points and three steals, while Robbins dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Burgess is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

It was another big night for D Watkins, who had 30 points in addition to six boards and five assists for Lake Lure Classical Academy. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashawn Camp, who put up ten points and five assists.

Veritas Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Veritas Christian Academy will square off against Shelby at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, they will face off against Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Lure Classical Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.4 points per game this season.
