Playoffs start in nine of the 10 sections in the state this week with the Central Coast Section waiting until next week to begin postseason play.
See all our California brackets.
With the release of the playoff brackets, one major change has occurred in the Northern California ratings. Placer, the previous No. 1 in Division II, has moved to the No. 1 spot in Division III. Because the Sac-Joaquin Section does not officially determine the playoff enrollment divisions until the playoff seedings are decided, Placer was not officially a Sac-Joaquin Section Division III team. Due to its lower enrollment, however, Placer was seeded in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV playoffs, which qualifies the Hillmen for the CIF Division III playoffs in terms of Bowl Games.
Center (Antelope) also moved as a result of its placement in the Sac-Joaquin's Division IV and is now in the Northern Division III ratings. The exodus of Placer in Division II elevated Rancho Cotate to No. 1 in that division. El Cerrito, the previous No. 1 in Division III, drops to No. 2, and Sutter moves to third.
