The Page Sand Devils stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They breezed by Bourgade Catholic on the road to the tune of 70-38. Given Page's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Bourgade Catholic is ranked 155th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alyssa Harris continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Sofia Cambridge was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Juliet Botiller, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That was a full 68.4% of Bourgade Catholic's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Vanessa Arismendez, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Bourgade Catholic struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Page racked up 21 assists.
The victory was the third in a row for Page, bringing their record for this year to 10-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Bourgade Catholic, they have fallen quite a ways from their 21-4 record last season and are now at 5-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Page will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Chinle at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. As for Bourgade Catholic, they will challenge Northwest Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Northwest Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
