Corsicana took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Cleburne Yellowjackets by a score of 17-7. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Mark Brown had a dynamite game for Corsicana, rushing for 121 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Brown got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 97 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenan Murphy, who rushed for 86 yards on only five carries.
Corsicana wouldn't let Cleburne keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force four fumbles. Brown was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing four fumbles and making six total tackles. Corsicana got some further help from Montray Bush: he picked up two sacks and made six total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Corsicana was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 320 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cleburne only rushed for 185.
Corsicana is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season. they take on Waco at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Corsicana is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. As for Cleburne, they will face off against Burleson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cleburne focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday.
