The Ithaca Yellowjackets will head out on the road to square off against the St. Louis Sharks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ithaca has three straight wins, St. Louis has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Ithaca is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They had just enough and edged out Alma 16-15.
Brady Paradise was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ithaca got a massive performance out of Ryley White, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. White is becoming a predictor of the Yellowjackets' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't). Carsen Shankel was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for St. Louis' offense. They lost 15-0 to Gladwin on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Sharks have lost by exactly 15 runs.
Ithaca's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for St. Louis, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
St. Louis' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Ithaca has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for St. Louis, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Ithaca keep running through batters, or will the Sharks buck the trend?
Ithaca took their victory against St. Louis when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1 score. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Sharks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
