The St. Cecilia Bluehawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Yutan Chieftains at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
St. Cecilia never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Doniphan-Trumbull last Friday. They blew past the Cardinals, posting a 47-19 victory at home.
Dawson Kissinger went supernova for St. Cecilia, rushing for 200 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per carry. Kissinger was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards. Another player making a difference was Chase Evans, who rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was St. Cecilia's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Doniphan-Trumbull's QB won't forget Kissinger anytime soon given Kissinger sacked him four times.
Meanwhile, Yutan had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-6 win over Tekamah-Herman on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-6.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Yutan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Derek Wacker, who gained 174 total yards. Jesse Kult was another key contributor, rushing for 124 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
St. Cecilia's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Yutan, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2.
St. Cecilia strolled past Yutan in their previous matchup back in November of 2015 by a score of 27-12. Will St. Cecilia repeat their success, or does Yutan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
