Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Greater Latrobe's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Greater Latrobe unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Uniontown Red Raiders, falling 64-43. The match marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Uniontown was led to victory by Calvin Winfrey and Tori Grooms. Winfrey posted 20 points in addition to five assists and five boards, while Grooms had 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Grooms' evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Kelan Milsom was another key player, going 5 of 8 en route to 11 points.

Greater Latrobe's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-2. As for Uniontown, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.

Greater Latrobe and Uniontown should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Greater Latrobe will square off against Laurel Highlands at 7:30 p.m. on Friday up 391 places (45 vs. 436). Greater Latrobe is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Meanwhile, Uniontown (ranked 25th) will meet Penn-Trafford (ranked 183rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
