The Wabash Apaches will be taking part in a tournament against the Taylor Titans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Wabash will be strutting in after a victory while Taylor will be coming in after a loss.
Wabash will bounce into Saturday's matchup after beating Maconaquah, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. The Apaches walked away with a 12-7 win over the Braves on Wednesday.
Kalli Davis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up seven earned runs off 12 hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andi Conliff, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaitlynn Honeycutt, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.
Wabash kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.7 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.
Meanwhile, Taylor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 13-0 to Clinton Prairie.
Wabash has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Taylor, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
Taylor's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Wabash has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Taylor, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 strikeouts. Will Wabash keep running through batters, or will the Titans buck the trend?
Wabash took their win against Taylor in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0 score. Do the Apaches have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
