Basketball Recap: Del Sol's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Del Sol needed a changed in momentum after dropping nine straight games and they got it from Jaeden Alexander. The Del Sol Dragons came out on top against the Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon Pirate by a score of 51-39 on Monday thanks in part to Alexander, who posted 18 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of William Philips, who had four points in addition to 13 rebounds and seven blocks. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 8.7 boards per game.

When it comes to explaining why Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon lost, don't look at Shane Stock. Despite the final result, he put up 18 points. Another player making a difference was Fredrett Hicks, who posted ten points.

Del Sol's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-3. As for Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Del Sol will square off against Shadow Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Shadow Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Del Sol likes a good challenge. As for Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon, they will take on The Meadows School at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Meadows School is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.4 points per game this season.
