The Seven Rivers Christian Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to First Academy 54-50. Seven Rivers Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as First Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Seven Rivers Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Richard Kilias, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Caleb Kuntz, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
First Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amari Smith led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Norflee, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Seven Rivers Christian has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for First Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season.
Seven Rivers Christian on the road again on Tuesday and play against Lakeside Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Lakeside Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matches -- so hopefully Seven Rivers Christian likes a good challenge. As for First Academy, they will be playing at home against Hampden DuBose Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Hampden DuBose Academy is ranked 735th, while First Academy is ranked 741st).
