The Elma Eagles''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 50-7 loss at the hands of La Center. While losing is never fun, Elma can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 217th, while La Center is ranked 53rd).
Despite the loss, Elma still got an impressive performance from Jackson Schneider, who picked up 109 receiving yards and a touchdown. Schneider's longest reception was for an incredible 72 yards.
La Center's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Houston Coyle led the charge by rushing for 84 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 156 yards and two touchdowns. Jalen Ward and his 121 yards on the ground were also a key factor in La Center's victory.
Elma's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for La Center, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Elma does not have any more games scheduled as of now. La Center will be playing in front of their home fans against Omak at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Omak is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
