The Wadsworth Grizzlies will square off against the North Ridgeville Rangers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Wadsworth is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Olmsted Falls.
Lorene Bennett 2025 spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lauren Ball 2025, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Jenevieve Swain 2027 also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Wadsworth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Olmsted Falls only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, North Ridgeville got themselves on the board against Cuyahoga Falls on Monday, but Cuyahoga Falls never followed suit. They blew past the Black Tigers 13-0. The Rangers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.
Naomi Bottomlee made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Bottomlee was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Gabby Thibodeaux was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Kailee Pasenow was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
North Ridgeville's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Wadsworth, their record now sits at 8-9.
