The Oak Park-River Forest Huskies will take on the Glenbard West Hilltoppers at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Wednesday, Oak Park-River Forest beat Lyons 10-5.
Molly Chambers looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Maura Carmody was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Julia Mattiace, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Glenbard West, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Lyons on Tuesday.
Olivia Salerno tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, Ainslie Bobroff was a standout: she fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Megan Stieglitz was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Glenbard West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lyons only posted an OBP of .320.
Glenbard West pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Oak Park-River Forest, their win bumped their record up to 21-8.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Oak Park-River Forest hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .372. However, it's not like Glenbard West struggles in that department as they've averaged .330. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
