Basketball Recap: Gibbs Snaps Ten-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Gibbs lost to Sweetwater back in November of 2017, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Gibbs Eagles were the clear victor by a 65-39 margin over the Sweetwater Wildcats. That 26 point margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

Despite the loss, Sweetwater saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bryson Burgess posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashten Brown, who earned five points.

Gibbs' win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-5. As for Sweetwater, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.

Gibbs will welcome Clinton at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Gibbs' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups. As for Sweetwater, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 52-48 loss against Meigs County on the 13th.
