Willow Spring is 6-1 against Corinth Holders since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Storm will be playing at home against the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Willow Spring's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Southeast Raleigh. The win continues a trend for the Storm in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.
The team relied heavily on Carly Simon, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Abby Howard was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Corinth Holders, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over South Garner on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pirates needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Mia Gwynn was incredible, going 1-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Pyper Vardy, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Willow Spring now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Corinth Holders, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Willow Spring hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Corinth Holders struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
