The Sankofa Freedom Academy Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the John Bartram Braves at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. John Bartram took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Sankofa Freedom Academy, who comes in off a win.
Even though Monroe Campus scored an imposing 62 points on Saturday, Sankofa Freedom Academy still came out on top. Sankofa Freedom Academy secured a 68-62 W over Monroe Campus. The victory was just what Sankofa Freedom Academy needed coming off of a 74-46 loss in their prior game.
Among those leading the charge was Nasir WIlliams, who scored 29 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Sankofa Freedom Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Jasir Henderson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Meanwhile, John Bartram pushed their score all the way to 65 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Science Leadership Academy at Beeber at home by a decisive 82-65 margin.
The victory got Sankofa Freedom Academy back to even at 1-1. As for John Bartram, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Everything came up roses for Sankofa Freedom Academy against John Bartram in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 59-28 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sankofa Freedom Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
