With a playoff game on the line, the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 28-0 victory over the Cougars at home. Winning may never get old, but St. Thomas Aquinas sure are getting used to it with their 12th in a row.
It was another big night for Jordan Lyle, who rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Another player making a difference was Stacey Gauge, who rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
St. Thomas Aquinas' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB nine times. Coconut Creek's QB won't forget Trevor Sommers anytime soon given Sommers sacked him twice.
St. Thomas Aquinas pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 38.5 points. As for Coconut Creek, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3-1.
St. Thomas Aquinas will stay at home for another week and welcome Gaither at 7:30 p.m. on December 1st. Gaither will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 71st, while St. Thomas Aquinas is ranked third). Coconut Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
