The Stafford Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Sweeny, falling 49-18. Stafford was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-8.
Sweeny's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shania Woodard, who scored 14 points along with five steals. Woodard hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kay'ana Britton, who scored five points along with eight steals.
Stafford bumped their record down to 3-15 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.0 points per game. As for Sweeny, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 18-8.
Stafford will square off against Bay City at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Sweeny, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Iowa Colony at 6:30 p.m. Iowa Colony is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
