The HRK Eagles pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-55 to The Prairie School. While losing is never fun, HRK can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 101st in Illinois, while the Hawks are ranked 30th in Wisconsin).
HRK's loss came despite strong showings from Chelsey Gardner and Molli Ward. Gardner dropped a double-double on 25 points and 16 rebounds, while Ward almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine steals. Gardner hasn't dropped below 15 points for 16 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelina Ward, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for HRK and nudges their season record down to 21-5. As for The Prairie School, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-3.
HRK will be playing at home against the Royals at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for The Prairie School, they will head out on the road to face off against the Pacers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
