If Purvis beats Wayne County with nine runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Tornadoes blew past Northeast Jones 9-3 on Thursday. The Tornadoes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.
Jadie Byrd - 2027 spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Brooxie Shepherd - 2026 was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles and three RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Mabrey Barrett - 2027 was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Purvis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Wayne County fell victim to Greene County and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to the Wildcats, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Wayne County's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Purvis, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
Wayne County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Purvis has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .616. It's a different story for Wayne County, though, as they've only averaged .348. Will they be able to contain Purvis' hitters?
