There's no place like home for the Mt. Pleasant Tigers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They secured a 76-70 W over Zion Christian Academy on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Mt. Pleasant's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jakyri McClure led the charge by dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McClure has scored all season. Hayden Holt was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Mt. Pleasant's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Zion Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Pleasant won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hughes at 7:00 p.m. on January 27th. As for Zion Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Franklin Classical School at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
