After losing to Ironwood the last time they met, Tolleson decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Tolleson Wolverines put the hurt on the Ironwood Eagles with a sharp 11-3 victory on Friday. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
Tolleson got a great performance from Mayrin Acuna as she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.
At the plate, Jada Rubalcava was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Dani Chairez was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Four bases. while going 1-for-4.
Tolleson's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Ironwood, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Tolleson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 13-2 victory against Seattle Prep on the 14th. Ironwood will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North at 3:45 p.m. on March 24th.
