Even though the Shelton Gaels scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, the Westhill Vikings still came out on top. Westhill took their matchup against Shelton 66-56. The score was all tied up 34-34 at the break, but Westhill was the better team in the second half.
Nayeli Juarez had an outrageously good game as she shot 4-for-4 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds.
Westhill's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-0. As for Shelton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westhill will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Greenwich at 7:00 p.m. on December 22nd. As for Shelton, they will head out on the road to face off against Lauralton Hall at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lauralton Hall focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Wednesday.
