The Hilton Head Island Seahawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Bradwell Institute 64-30. While losing is never fun, Hilton Head Island can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 130th in South Carolina, while Bradwell Institute is ranked 29th in Georgia).
Hilton Head Island's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amaya Wroten, who scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds. Wroten scored a full 43.3% of Hilton Head Island's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Leah Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Parris Parham continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bradwell Institute, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 10 rebounds. The match was Parham's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Rogers, who scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds.
Hilton Head Island's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Bradwell Institute, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hilton Head Island won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Savannah at 6:00 p.m. on December 9th. Hopefully Savannah focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday. As for Bradwell Institute, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Ware County at 6:00 p.m. Ware County is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
