It was a good run, but the Sands Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Sweetwater by a score of 41-38. Sands was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sweetwater apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played last Saturday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sweetwater to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mallory Gibson, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds. Braelyn Gaytan was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Sands now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Sweetwater, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sands will be home for the holidays to greet Westbrook at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sweetwater will be home for the holidays to greet Andrews at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Andrews is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
