This season hasn't been kind to the Wagener-Salley War Eagles, who are still winless after their 16th game. They were the victim of a rough 75-55 defeat at the hands of Ridge Spring-Monetta on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Ridge Spring-Monetta to victory were James Bosket and Tavin Rodney. Bosket scored 25 points along with five steals, while Rodney dropped a double-double on 24 points and 20 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Rodney scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Briston Matthews, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and six assists.
Wagener-Salley dropped their record down to 0-16 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-13.
Wagener-Salley will head out on the road to challenge the Fighting Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Blackville-Hilda focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in North's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 games.
