The Yorkville Foxes will square off against the Oswego Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Yorkville had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Bolingbrook on Tuesday. The Foxes were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Raiders.
Callie Ferko was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Kayla Kersting was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Oswego put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Jacobs a 16-0 shutout. Considering the Panthers have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Jaelynn Anthony was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Oswego got a massive performance out of Natalie Muellner, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Aubriella Garza, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Oswego kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive games.
Oswego's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Yorkville, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 8-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Yorkville hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Oswego struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Yorkville might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Oswego in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Foxes have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
