The Santa Rita Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 11th straight defeat. They were beaten by Willcox 66-17. Santa Rita has not had much luck with Willcox recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, Santa Rita still got an impressive performance from Naima Gomez, who scored seven points.
Mia Mungarro was a one-man wrecking crew for Willcox as she dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Mungarro has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Ebert, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Santa Rita dropped their record down to 1-21 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.8 points per game. As for Willcox, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-15.
Santa Rita does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Willcox, they will head out on the road to take on Morenci at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Morenci focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
