After five games on the road, Ragsdale is heading back home. They will take on the Southeast Guilford Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Ragsdale pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a serious blow against Grimsley, falling 88-57. Ragsdale has not had much luck with the Whirlies recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Ragsdale's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Patrick Carter, who scored 15 points along with two steals, and Josiah Beatty who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Beatty has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cam Wise, who scored six points.
Even though they lost, Ragsdale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Southeast Guilford's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Southwest Guilford 88-45. While losing is never fun, Southeast Guilford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 401st, while the Cowboys are ranked 104th).
Ragsdale dropped their record down to 2-18 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Southeast Guilford, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-14.
Ragsdale was able to grind out a solid victory over the Falcons in their previous meeting back in January, winning 70-62. Will Ragsdale repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
